How to read the detected tools list
When you open the MarTech Inspector tab, the tools detected on the page you're viewing are listed automatically. This page explains how to read that list and how detection works.
How detection works
MarTech Inspector combines four kinds of signals to detect tools.
- globalVar: A global variable created by JavaScript the page loaded (e.g.
dataLayer) - scriptSrc: The source URL of a loaded
<script>tag - cookie: A cookie name pattern the tool issues
- request: The destination host of a network request (e.g. a beacon) the tool sends
The parentheses to the right of each tool name show which signals actually matched.
Reading the confidence dot
The dot to the left of each tool name shows how confident the detection is.
- Filled dot: Multiple signals matched — a confident detection
- Outlined dot: Only one signal matched — a "possible" match (e.g. only a cookie naming pattern matched, with no other corroborating signal)
Sometimes a cookie is present but no script or request actually fired on this particular page load. This is often a leftover from a previous visit — check the Timeline tab to see whether it actually fired this time.
Supported tools
MarTech Inspector supports 24 tools, including Adobe Analytics, Adobe Target, Google Analytics 4 / GTM, Tealium iQ, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, KARTE, LINE Tag, Microsoft Clarity, and Criteo. Click the 🔗 icon to the right of a tool's name to open its official documentation.
Rescanning
Click "Rescan" at the top right to run detection again on the spot. Use this after interacting with the page, or after changing CMP consent state, to refresh the results.
